Cartmel Races

The long tradition of racing at Cartmel was started by the monks from Cartmel Priory in the 12th Century.

The Whit Holiday Races have been a feature of the Racing Calendar since 1856 and there are now nine race days to enjoy each year at Cartmel, set against the backdrop of the beautiful Lakeland fells.

Lakes Aquarium

At Lakeside, on the southern end of England’s largest lake, Windermere, you can discover in over 30 displays the fascinating and often secret world of wildlife and freshwater creatures dwelling in and alongside these magnificent waters.

You will see several varieties of trout, the pike, and Windermere’s elusive char. Finally, you will see the freshwater fish of the estuary, and the seawater inhabitants of the bay, including rays and sharks from around our coast.

Alpaca Trekking

Bardsea Alpacas located in the lovely village of Bardsea near Ulverston, right on the beach front, surrounded by woodland and at the foot of Birkrigg Common. They have one of the largest herds of Alpacas and Llamas in the Lake District!

Beatrix Potter

The World of Beatrix Potter is a vibrant family Attraction bringing to life Beatrix Potter’s enchanting stories in a magical recreation of the beautiful Lake District countryside.

The Puzzling Place

The Puzzling Place World of Illusion takes the theme of Illusion and runs with it. It is home to our ‘Anti-gravity Room’, ‘Ames Room’, ‘Hologram Gallery’ and ‘Eyelusions Exhibition’. It’s a fascinating, fun and social excursion into the wonderful world of optical illusion, which will leave you quite literally, not believing your eyes!

Lakeland Maze
Farm Park

Raines Hall Farm is a working farm, so as well as cattle, sheep and various breeds of pig, there are ferrets, rabbits, small rodents, llamas, alpacas, goats, horses and donkeys!

Every year a different design to the maze is created and it always provides a challenge to be completed.
